Is it possible to play a Nintendo DS Lite online when you have Windows Vista?

I stuck the WiFi thing into my PC, I've tried downloading the appropriate software and looking up help on Nintendo.com, but I still can't play my DS online. Windows Vista keeps me from doing a lot of fun stuff. For example, I can't download software that lets me download torrents and I can't download Project 64 or any other emulators. Windows Vista is full of crapp! I have a Nintendo DS Lite. I hate it when costumer service and Nintendo.com doesn't know my error code! Also, what's a friend code?

The best and easiest way to use your DS online is to use a wireless router instead of using your computer as a gateway to your modem. Using a router is actually the way most consoles recommend connecting them to the internet. If you used a router the OS you use on your PC becomes irrelevant because the Console doesn't connect to your computer at all...

If you must use your PC as a gateway, then you'll need to set it all up correctly. You'll need to configure your computer as a gateway (I think the wizard calls it "Other users connect to the internet through this PC") and then write an exception rule in your firewall for the DS Lite to connect. This will most likely be very fiddly and take you a fair bit of time to perfect. Using windows based PCs for gateways has always been a hit and miss affair, regardless of which version you're using.

Like I said, my best advice, use a wireless router.
